"School readiness" — it sounds like a big, serious phrase, doesn’t it? But here’s the good news: everything your child has been doing — playing, exploring, making friends — has been quietly preparing them all along! It’s all part of growing into independent, curious little learners who are excited for their next adventure.

At Nursery Days, our Pre-School is a happy hub of fun, imagination, and discovery. We believe that every child is wonderfully unique, and we’re proud to offer a place where they are celebrated just as they are. Here, we encourage children to explore, create, and develop all the skills they’ll need for the exciting road ahead.

Our beautiful Shepherds Huts are where a lot of the magic happens! It’s here that Izzy, our qualified teacher, brings her passion for Early Years to life through our special school readiness sessions. Every day is a new adventure with Izzy — full of learning, laughter, and plenty of hands-on fun.

Books are at the heart of our sessions. Children dive into stories and non-fiction with Izzy, building their language skills and stretching their imaginations. One of their favourite activities? Writing their very own stories! They share their ideas with Izzy, who writes them down, while the children get busy adding their own colourful pictures and early letter writing. To build those all-important fine motor skills, we even get our fingers moving at Dough Disco — squishing, patting, and poking playdough to get those little hands strong and ready for pencil-holding!

We love bringing learning to life through nature too. One of our most exciting traditions is hatching chicks! Watching the life cycle unfold right before their eyes helps children understand growth, change, and responsibility — plus, our happy hens stay with us long after, providing fresh eggs for lots more exploring. Did you know we even use the eggs to experiment with natural dyes and floating and sinking activities?

And when it comes to maths, it’s all about playful discovery. Izzy leads small group games where children learn the basics of addition, subtraction, and number recognition. One of their favourite games is Number Scout — spotting a number, showing it with their fingers, and then searching high and low to find the right number of objects to match!

At Nursery Days, school readiness isn’t about pressure — it’s about giving children the confidence, skills, and spark they need to leap into their next chapter with big smiles and even bigger dreams.
