Welcome to Nursery Days Team

What do I love about Nursery Days?

Meet Our Manager Amy

My day starts like every other. Alarm, snooze, Alarm and mission get ready for school is in full swing. I drop my children off and head into Upchurch. On entering the village I’m greeted with beautiful views of British trees and, at this time of year, frost covered rolling fields. I am welcomed with the glorious hymns of nature, friendly faces and warm hellos.

As I walk into nursery that’s where the usual becomes magical and no two days are alike. The air is filled with excitement and anticipation of another uniquely wondrous day. The team have set up awe inspiring activities to spark imagination in every child so they can ignite their passion for learning through play. I stand back and watch as one by one children are greeted by their special grown up and join us to make our nursery home complete.

One of my favourite parts of the morning is venturing out to our orchard. The walk is rich with views of the glorious countryside and marvellous conversations are had. We spot wildlife, litter pick and make discoveries all along the way. The children learn real life skills, basic navigation skills, and benefit massively from the physical exercise. As walking is known to release feel good hormones our little explorers arrive at the orchard feeling fresh and ready for the experience along with the resilience to tackle any challenging tasks.Being on hand to enable children and offer thought provoking questions like “I wonder why that’s happened” or “how can we make this work”, is a truly wonderful gift.

Using nature as a tool to tinker and create, to express ourselves and understand our world brings a much greater depth of learning. The excitement of potion making with petals and grass, threading in the low branches or digging in the mud to make the most amazingly delicious pies shows on every face adult and child alike.

The possibilities are endless and thrilling.Something that is so important for me is that we offer an extensive range of extra curricular activities every day from gardening club to carpentry workshops, music and music sessions to sewing classes and much more, the children learn skills that will stay with them forever. They gain confidence with every teacher and experience we invite in, be it cooking club or animal encounters all children will have the opportunity to learn about the wider world and how we can contribute to making it so special.

It’s heart warming to see wide eyes and amazement and to have the opportunity to encourage children to be playful, happy and fun loving, life long learners. Then at the end of the day I just love to see the children go home feeling full, content and happy but best of all keen to share their day with their loved ones and excited for what the next Nursery Day has to offer.

Meet Our Assistant Manager, Preschool Leader and Social Media Manager and more! Trina:

For me, there’s nothing better than being part of the children’s journeys — helping them settle in, watching them grow, and seeing their confidence shine through as they learn.

Nursery Days has such a welcoming feel; the staff are always smiling and laughing with the children, and hearing your name called out across the room for a cuddle or a wave just melts your heart. Each day brings a new adventure. We plan and play in the moment, following the children’s interests as they explore and discover. It’s such a lovely way to teach and learn together — their curiosity leads the way, and we simply extend the magic as it happens.

I especially love spending time outdoors. Forest School is one of my favourite parts of the week — there’s something magical about seeing the children completely immersed in nature. And then there’s Farm School, which is another highlight.

The children absolutely adore caring for the animals, especially the donkeys. They’ve even come up with their own special “donkey walk” — a calm, slow stroll that makes everyone smile!

Back at nursery, we carry on the fun with cooking, gardening, sports clubs, and school readiness activities. Watching the children develop new skills each week, seeing their pride when they achieve something new — that’s what makes every day at Nursery Days so rewarding for me.

A little more about me:I’ve worked at Nursery Days for 21 years, and I honestly can’t imagine being anywhere else! I left school knowing that childcare was what I wanted to do — I’ve always loved looking after my younger cousins, and that passion just grew from there. I went straight into college and a placement, then joined Nursery Days at 17… and I’ve never looked back! Outside of nursery, I love spending time with my nieces, watching Millwall, and doing Pilates — which has become both a hobby and a great way to unwind after a busy day.

Meet Our Manager's Assistant & Under 2's Provision Lead & more! Emily:

Nursery Days really does feel like a family. It’s such a warm, supportive environment where we can give children the best start in life. I feel so privileged to play a part in their early years — from helping them take their very first steps to watching friendships blossom and personalities shine.

A typical day for me starts with greeting the children and their families at the door. It’s a lovely moment to chat, share updates, and make sure everyone feels happy and ready for the day ahead. After breakfast, we dive straight into our adventures — whether that’s a trip to the orchard, a journey out on the minibus, or time spent exploring our beautiful garden.Down at the orchard, the children love helping care for our guinea pigs. It’s such a peaceful, nurturing experience, and I enjoy watching how gentle and kind they are. Sometimes, we’ll run heuristic play sessions too, using natural materials to spark curiosity and creativity. If we’re off to the beach for a Beach School session, we collect shells and stones to make transient art or create sand dough right there on the sand. The children absolutely love making their own patterns and marks — it’s wonderful to see their imaginations come to life.

Back in the garden, we run our gardening club where the children help plant, water, and tend to the flowers and vegetables we’ve grown together. It’s also a lovely space for our calming yoga sessions — a chance for everyone to stretch, breathe, and unwind. After a busy morning, we all sit down together for a delicious home-cooked lunch, chatting and laughing with friends.

Then it’s time for a rest before we get stuck into more play and activities in the afternoon. I’ve been at Nursery Days for nine years now, and I can honestly say I’ve loved every moment. I first joined while completing my Level 3 in Childcare, and I instantly knew this was the job for me. Watching the children grow, learn, and thrive brings such a wonderful sense of fulfilment.

Trina & Emily:

What makes Nursery Days so special isn’t just the activities or the setting — it’s the people, the laughter, and the little moments that happen every single day.

Being part of a team that truly cares and watching children blossom right before your eyes is something we’ll never take for granted.Working at Nursery Days isn’t just a job for us — it’s a passion, a privilege, and a joy. 💛
