Working Together
Parental Involvement
At Nursery Days it is a policy to involve parents as much as possible in the aims and objectives of the nursery as we believe that parents are the child's first and main educators. They will be encouraged to attend parent/staff meetings and to discuss management decisions regarding policies. To achieve a constructive relationship our policies are:
- The Nursery Supervisor or Deputy Supervisor will be available to discuss any problems or requirements in private
- All parents will be able to discuss their children with thei
r key person or other members of the rooms staff - Parents can contact the nursery by telephone during the day to discuss their child's progress and/or welfare
- Parents will be presented with an up to date diary to take home at the end of each session or in the case of Yellow Room each week; this is so that they can follow their child's activities, progress and any special educational needs identified
- If parents have any suggestions they are welcome to speak to the Nursery Supervisor and/or Deputy Supervisor. Their suggestions and comments will be recorded and acted on appropriately
- A newsletter will be sent to parent's quarterly, informing them of any proposed changes in policies, any staff changes and on various topics regarding the nursery
- A parents evening will be held once yearly where parents can come in to discuss their development and any concerns they might have. The consultation between parents and qualified staff can be in private if the parent so wishes.
- We offer 'Stay & Play' sessions for parents to observe the routine of the nursery
- Parents are always encouraged to join in on special events at the nursery such as picnics, fun days, parties etc.
