Welcome to the Sunbeam Pre-School Room

The Sunbeam Room accommodates 24 children a day from 3 years until they go to school. With 3 staff, a ratio of 1:8.  Pre-schoolers have their own designated room in a mobile classroom.

In the Sunbeam Room we have a wide range of activities to support 'Learning Through Play'. The room is designed into different areas to promote the six areas of learning known as the 'Early Learning Goals', which are consistent with Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum.

Transfer of Records
Before your child leaves pre-school your key person will complete a records of transfer form to share information with their next setting. This will show what progress the child has made within the foundation stage.

Parents/carers will be asked to read, add comments and sign that they agree with the information recorded.  Parents will have a copy and the pre-school will past the transfer of records form to the next setting.

French
We have a French teacher that comes to visit every Monday from the Company 'La Jolie Ronde'.  The children learn using role-play and learning songs and rhymes.  This is at an additional cost.

Learning Journeys/Contact Books
Children have their own progress file; this is a way for staff and parents to see how the children are progressing and to display their work and achievements.

Regular observations are made on each child to help us plan for their next stage of development.

Each child has an individual contact book to share information with parents/carers on their child's time at nursery.

Parental Involment
The parent's notice board is behind the main door, which provides information on daily plans, adult led activities and other relevant information.

Parents are encouraged to share information and ideas with staff and any suggestions are very welcome.

Clothing
Please ensure all your child's belongings are labelled.

Please encourage your child to hang up their coat and bag to help with independence.

Stay and Play
Did you know that parents are invited to stay and play at the nursery for a session or an hour! This will present the perfect opportunity to find out what your child's day at nursery is like and how much fun they have.  Parents are also welcome to come in and carry out activities with the children from cooking, reading storeys or woodwork!

Sand & Water
These activities are available everyday for the children to play and experiment with.  We use them in connection with each area of learning.
